Uses
Somatostatin receptors are often overexpressed in tumours and are potential therapeutic targets. Somatostatin receptor agonists can be used to study signaling pathways related somatostatin receptor. L 803087 is a somatostatin sst4 receptor agonist.
Biological Activity
Potent and selective somatostatin sst 4 receptor agonist. K i values are 0.7, 199, 4720, 1280 and 3880 nM for cloned human sst 4 , sst 1 , sst 2 , sst 3 and sst 5 receptors respectively. Facilitates AMPA-mediated hippocampal synaptic responses in vitro and increases kainate-induced seizures in mice in vivo .
in vivo
L-803087 (5 nmol) is doubled seizure activity in wild-type mice on average. Interestingly, this effect is blocked by 3 nmol Octreotide. In hippocampal slices from wild-type mice, Octreotide (2 μM) does not modify AMPA-mediated synaptic responses while facilitation occurred with L-803087 (2 μM)[2].
