Zinc Glycerolate Usage And Synthesis
Uses
1. Glyceryl zinc complex has excellent UV resistance and thermal stability, and is non-toxic and non-coloring, making it suitable as a photothermal stabilizer in polymer materials.
2. It can be widely used as a photothermal stabilizer in plastics, polyvinyl chloride resin, rubber, natural rubber, vulcanized rubber, PVC resin, etc. It is a powerful substitute for highly toxic additives containing lead, barium, cadmium, etc., and does not exhibit zinc burning.
3. As a non-toxic heat stabilizer for polyvinyl chloride (at a dosage of approximately 2%), it is better than commonly used zinc soaps (such as zinc stearate), inhibiting zinc burning. It can also be compounded with calcium stearate (with a synergistic effect), and its effect is even better when compounded with epoxidized soybean oil, triphenyl sulfite, and calcium stearate. It can also be compounded with β-diketone, HDBM, etc. It also has photostable properties.
4. It can replace zinc oxide; SR709, etc., as an environmentally friendly rubber vulcanizing activator. 5. In medicine, it is used as an absorbent for zinc in the human body, exhibiting stronger binding and absorption than zinc gluconate, zinc citrate, and other zinc derivatives. It can also be used in long-acting anti-arthritis medications. 6. In cosmetics, glycerol zinc complexes have a hexagonal, layered crystal structure with weak interlayer bonding. Due to its unique structure, glycerol zinc complexes possess excellent lubricating properties, and the glycerol groups in the complex can penetrate the skin surface for protection and are evenly distributed, making them suitable for producing sunscreens and skin creams. 7. Creams made primarily of glycerol zinc complexes can soften hair when applied to the skin and can be used to make shaving creams. Based on the special properties of glycerol zinc complexes, other chemicals can also be prepared. This overview and information on the uses of glycerol zinc were compiled and edited by Li Jie of Chemicalbook. (2016-01-24)
