Uses

Potassium (4-nitrophenyl)trifluoroborate can be used as a pharmaceutical synthesis intermediate, such as for the synthesis of diaryl sulfone compounds. It can be prepared by reacting 4-bromonitrobenzene with tetramethylaminoethylborane and potassium hydrogen fluoride.

Uses

Potassium (4-nitrophenyl)trifluoroborate, also known as potassium p-nitrophenyl fluoroborate, is an organic intermediate used to prepare diaryl sulfones at room temperature via cuprous chloride catalysis. Diaryl sulfone compounds are commonly used in organic synthesis as pharmaceutical and pesticide intermediates and have shown good biological activity; for example, they have been shown to possess antifungal, antibacterial, and antitumor activities. Recently, diaryl sulfones and aromatic heterocyclic sulfones have been shown to inhibit HIV-1 reverse transcriptase, representing a new class of substances that can address the problems of drug residue toxicity and resistance to nucleoside inhibitors.
