Biological Activity
Echinoderm microtubule-associated protein-like 2 (EML2) functions as a microtubule destabilizer and is an crucial regulator of microtubule dynamics in the cell cycle. It binds to tubulin and inhibits microtubule nucleation and growth. This results in the formation of shorter microtubules. It destabilizes microtubules by formation of an interdimer and associates with the tubulin subunits in adjoining protofilaments with the aid of its hydrophobic ELP (HELP) domain.
