SAFFRON POWDER Usage And Synthesis
Chemical Properties
Yellow or brownish-yellow powder, easy to absorb moisture, brown when absorbing moisture, and form lumps. The product after moisture absorption does not affect the use effect. Melting point 230 ℃. Good light resistance, stable color tone in the range of pH 5-7.
Uses
Saffron powder can be used as a food coloring agent.
Synthesis
Saffron powder is obtained from the female stamens of the Compositae safflower (Carthamus tinctorius), extracted with water or weak acid solution, purified, concentrated and dried.
