A methylenedioxyphenyl (MDP) compound. Inhibitor of nasal P 450-dependent N-demethylase in rabbits. Toxic against D. farinae, D. pteronyssinus, and T. putrescentiae.

Piperonylonitrile has been used to alter the growth of Nif + and Nif - strains of K.pneumoniae.
