Nonylphenoxypoly(ethyleneoxy)ethanol Usage And Synthesis

Uses

NP40 Cell Lysis Buffer is suitable for the preparation of cell extracts to be analyzed by Antibody Bead Immunoassay (Luminex), ELISA, and Western blotting. It can also be used as a wash buffer for immunoprecipitation reactions.

Uses

Arkopal? N 100 is a nonionic surfactant that can be used for testing the stress cracking resistance of polyethylene materials at high temperatures. It is also suitable for enhancing the biodegradation of aromatic hydrocarbon compounds.

General Description

with approx. 10 ethylene oxide units

Biochem/physiol Actions

ERK2 is a protein serine/threonine kinase that is a member of the extracellular signal-regulated kinases (ERKs) which are activated in response to numerous growth factors and cytokines. Activation of ERK2 requires both tyrosine and threonine phosphorylation that is mediated by MEK. ERK2 is ubiquitously distributed in tissues with the highest expression in heart, brain and spinal cord. Activated ERK2 translocates into the nucleus where it phosphorylates various transcription factors (e.g., Elk-1, c-Myc, c-Jun, c-Fos, and C/EBP beta).

Safety Profile

Moderately toxic by ingestion and skin contact. A severe eye and mild skin irritant in humans. Many glycol ethers cause dangerous human reproductive effects. When heated to decomposition it emits acrid smoke and irritating fumes. See also GLYCOL ETHERS.
