Synthesis

N,N-dihydroxyethyl-p-toluidine can be synthesized by the following steps: 1 000 g of p-toluidine and 10 g of water were added to a 5L autoclave, the temperature was raised to 60 ?? ~ 65 ?? and stirred for 30 min, then 100 g of ethylene oxide was added to the autoclave and the temperature was maintained at 65 ~ 70 ?? for 4 h. Then 100 g of ethylene oxide was added to the autoclave and the temperature was maintained at 70 ~ 75 ?? for 4 h, and the reaction was finished. The reaction was carried out at 70 ?? 80 ?? for 3 h and cooled to 30 ??. The reaction solution was added to the distillation kettle, and the product was collected at 143 ?? 148 ?? (1.3 ?? 1.6 kPa), the yield was 86%, and the purity of the product was more than 98%, and the former fraction could be recycled to improve the yield. The product is light yellow solid.
