2-Phenyl-6-hydroxy-3-pyridazinone is white powdery crystal, m.p. 268~272℃, easily soluble in dimethylformamide and 1-methyl-2-pyrrolidone, insoluble in water, methanol, benzene, can form the corresponding salts with a variety of alkaline substances, stable in acidic, neutral and alkaline solutions, decomposed when encountering strong oxidizing agents.

Synthesis

It was prepared by condensing phenylhydrazine with maleic anhydride to obtain 6-hydroxy-2-phenyl-3-pyridone. Dissolve phenylhydrazine hydrochloride in water, stirring and heating to 95 ??, once added maleic anhydride, reflux 2h, cooling precipitation of light yellow solid, filtration, water wash, filter cake with hot 10% sodium carbonate solution, filtration, water wash until the wash solution is free of chlorine ions, the filter cake after drying that is 6-hydroxy-2-phenyl-3-pyridone.
