Palmitoyl Tripeptide-38 Usage And Synthesis
Description
Palmitoyl Tripeptide-38 is a three-chain amino acid popular in cosmeceutical skin care formulations because its power to penetrate deep into the dermis to boost the production of collagen types 1,3 & 4. Not only this the peptide promotes the synthesis of Hyaluronic Acid, and will assist the body’s natural regeneration process helping skin retain its suppleness. A powerful peptide found in both the Peptide Lip Therapy & Hyaluronic Acid Lip Booster.
Characteristics
Palmitoyl Tripeptide-38 is derived from the tripeptide KMK naturally found in collagen VI and laminins. Palmitoyl Tripeptide-38 stimulates the synthesis of 6 major constituents of skin matrix and dermal-epidermal junction (collagen I, II, IV, fibronectin, hyaluronic acid and laminin5). Palmitoyl Tripeptide-38 rebuilds the skin network that keeps the skin smooth.
Use level: 0.001-0.005 % (maximum dose: 0.02 %, slightly soluble in water)
benefits
Cosmetic benefits
Even out skin relief and smoothes wrinkles from the inside by rebuilding the skin where it is needed, particularly on the forehead and crow’s feet.
Biological Functions
palmitoyl tripeptide-38 is a matrikine-mimetic compound that regulates cell activity, wound repair and collagen tissue remodeling. it stimulates six major constituents of the skin matrix and the dermal-epidermal junction to plump fine lines and boost skin repair.
Mode of action
Palmitoyllysyl-dioxymethionyl-lysine (palmitoyl tripeptide-38) is one matrikine-mimetic peptide. Extensive in vitro and ex vivo (human skin explants) experiments have shown that the peptide stimulates the synthesis of six matrix molecules, including collagen I, III, IV, hyaluronic acid, fibronectin, and laminin. In contrast, a randomized, vehicle-controlled clinical trial of the peptide confirmed the smoothing of the forehead and crow's feet wrinkle features when used in a topical preparation containing 5 ppm palmitoyl tripeptide-38. Palmitoyl tripeptide-38 belongs to a group of synthetic peptides modelled on repair signalling sequences to increase the proliferation of collagen, elastin, proteoglycan, glycosaminoglycan, and fibronectin for improvements in pigmentation, fine lines, and wrinkles in photodamaged skin. Studies of palmitoyl tripeptide-38 in topical solutions with additive ingredients have suggested beneficial effects, including significant increases in dermal density and elasticity and improvements in rhytides[1].
