Synthesis
The synthesis of Dioxirane, methyl(trifluoromethyl)- was carried out at 20 °C by adding 500 mL of a 1.98 M aqueous solution of Oxone (rate 143 mL/h) to a mixture of 66 g of sodium bicarbonate and 22 mL of 2 M aqueous solutions of 1,1,1-trifluoroacetone hydrate. A second portion of sodium bicarbonate (100 g) was charged after an addition of the first 200 mL of the Oxone solution. The evolution of Dioxirane, methyl(trifluoromethyl)- was monitored in the second reaction zone by the oxidation of 50 mL of a 0.209 M dichloromethane solution of exonorbornanol at –15 °C.[1]
