Uses

4-Isopropylphenylhydrazine hydrochloride may be used in the preparation of 4-isopropylphenylhydrazine, via neutralization with NaOH.

Synthesis

Measure 1.37mL (0.02mol) 4-isopropylaniline, drop 50mL concentrated hydrochloric acid, stirred in an ice bath for 10min. 2mol/L aqueous sodium nitrite solution 7.5mL (0.15mol) was added slowly and dropwise. the solution turned reddish brown. The solution turned reddish brown and reacted with ice bath for 1 h. A concentrated hydrochloric acid solution of 1 mol/L stannous chloride of 30 mL was added directly dropwise in the original reaction vessel and stirred with ice bath for 3 h. A large amount of solid was precipitated, filtered, washed with water and dried naturally without further purification, yielding 1.72 g of 4-isopropylphenylhydrazine hydrochloride in the form of a light brown powder with a yield of . 92.2%.
