HYDRAULIC FLUID Usage And Synthesis
Uses
Hydrogenated heavy alkane fractions from petroleum are mainly used for: 1. Production of antioxidants: Hydrogenated heavy alkane fractions possess excellent antioxidant properties and are primarily used in the production of antioxidants. 2. Production of petroleum cracking catalysts: Hydrogenated heavy alkane fractions are key raw materials for petroleum cracking reactions and are mainly used in the production of petroleum cracking catalysts. 3. Production of gasoline and lubricating oils: Due to their clear structure and low carbon number, hydrogenated heavy alkane fractions exhibit good durability and are mainly used in the production of gasoline and lubricating oils. In summary, hydrogenated heavy alkane fractions from petroleum possess excellent physical and chemical properties and are used in the production of antioxidants, petroleum cracking catalysts, and gasoline and lubricating oils, making them important industrial substances.
Definition
HYDRAULIC FLUID is a complex combination of hydrocarbons obtained by treating a petroleum fraction with hydrogen in the presence of a catalyst. It consists of hydrocarbons having carbon numbers predominantly in the range of C20 through C50 and produces a finished oil of at least 100 SUS at 100.degree.F (19cSt at 40.degree.C). It contains a relatively large proportion of saturated hydrocarbons.
Flammability and Explosibility
Non flammable
Safety Profile
Confirmed carcinogen. Low toxicity by ingestion and skin contact. When heated to decomposition it emits acrid smoke and irritating fumes.
Toxics Screening Level
The ITSL for hydrotreated heavy paraffmic mineral oil is 50 μg/m3 based on a 8-hour averaging time.
