XENON DIFLUORIDE Usage And Synthesis

Uses

Xenon difluoride is a powerful fluorinating and oxidizing agent. Useful in the direct fluorination of alkenes and aromatics. Commercial uses include an etchant for silicon.

Chemical Properties

white crystalline solid

Uses

Xenon Difluoride is a fluorination agent used in gas chromatography.

General Description

Xenon fluoride may be obtained by interacting elemental xenon and fluorine in the temperature range of 473-523 oC and 5 absolute atmosphere. Xenon difluoride readily interacts with Lewis acid and forms complexes.
