Sodium nitroprusside dihydrate Usage And Synthesis
Chemical Properties
Bright red crystals
Uses
Used in medicine hypertensive emergency.
Uses
anthelmintic
Uses
Reagent for the analysis of zinc, sulphide, sulphur dioxide, acetone and organic compounds.
Uses
Sodium nitroferricyanide(III) dihydrate is a reagent for the detection of many organic Compounds, e.g., acetone, aldehydes, also of alkali sulfides, zinc, SO2.
Definition
ChEBI: A hydrate that is the dihydrate form of sodium nitroprusside.
brand name
Nipride (Roche); Nitropress (Abbott); Nitropress (Hospira).
General Description
Certified pharmaceutical secondary standards for application in quality control provide pharma laboratories and manufacturers with a convenient and cost-effective alternative to pharmacopeia primary standards. Sodium Nitroprusside is widely used as a drug to manage hypertension, via lowering elevated blood pressure by acting on the arteriolar smooth muscle.
reaction suitability
reagent type: catalyst
core: iron
Synthesis
A synthetic process of sodium nitroprusside, including the following steps:
1) synthesizing copper nitrosoferricyanide: adding appropriate amount of purified water to dissolve potassium nitroferricyanide in a crystallization tank, warming up to 70--80??C to make it completely dissolved, and slowly adding aqueous copper sulfate pentahydrate drop by drop, and holding the temperature for 30 minutes after completion of the reaction Centrifugation, centrifugation of the resulting filter cake (copper nitrite ferrocyanide) into the crystallization tank.
2) Synthesis of sodium nitroprusside (sodium nitroferrocyanide): according to the feeding ratio of saturated sodium bicarbonate aqueous solution, and holding at 30 - 60 ?? between the slow addition of droplets to the copper nitroferrocyanide. After the reaction is completed, centrifuge, collect the filtrate and wash solution.
3) Concentration and precipitation: The collected filtrate and wash solution were pumped to the vacuum concentration tank, and glacial acetic acid was added slowly until no bubbles were produced. Turn on the vacuum pump and raise the temperature to 40--60??, start to concentrate, concentrate until a large number of crystals precipitated, close the steam valve, vacuum valve for crystallization.
4) Centrifugal drying: After crystallization, pump off the supernatant, stir the crystals and centrifuge them evenly, place the filter cake in a stainless steel plate, and dry it in vacuum to get the product.
