4,4''-Dimethyl-5'-(4-methylphenyl)-1,1':3',1''-terbenzene is primarily used as an electron transport layer (ETL) and exciton blocking layer (EBL) material, particularly in high-performance blue phosphorescent OLED (PhOLED) devices. By using these layers, they effectively balance the injection and transport of charge carriers (electrons and holes) within the device and firmly confine excitons within the light-emitting layer, ultimately achieving high-efficiency, high-brightness, and long-life electroluminescence.

Properties and Applications

4,4''-Dimethyl-5'-(4-methylphenyl)-1,1':3',1''-terphenyl is a typical electron transport material (ETM). Its low LUMO (lowest unoccupied molecular orbital) energy level (approximately -2.7 eV) enables it to efficiently receive electrons from the cathode and transfer them to the light-emitting layer.
