Synthesis

NaOMe (0.5 mmol; 25 wt% MeOH solution) was added to a slurry of arylboronic acid (10 mmol) in acetonitrile (10 mL/g vs. boric acid). One portion of 1,3-dibromo-5,5-dimethylglycolide (11 mmol) was added to the reaction and the mixture was heated to 40 ??C. The reaction was aged under N2 atmosphere at 40 ??C for 4 h. The reaction was cooled to room temperature and burst with 10% Na2SO3 (10 mL/g vs. boric acid). The mixture was diluted with MTBE (10mL/g vs. boric acid) and the stirred organic layer was washed with 1N NaOH (10mL/g vs. boric acid) to remove any unreacted starting material. The organic solution was analyzed by HPLC and the yield of the reaction was obtained by comparison with authentic samples obtained from commercial sources.GC/MS and NMR analyses confirmed the identity of the product. The final product, o-bromofluorobenzene, was obtained in 98% yield
