Chemical Properties
Oily liquid. Boiling point 97-99 ℃ (0.267kPa). Its hydrochloride is a white crystalline powder with a melting point of 129-131 °C. Soluble in water, ethanol, chloroform, slightly soluble in benzene and ether. Odorless, bitter taste. The pH of a 5% aqueous solution is 5.3-5.7.
Uses
Methoxyphenamine is an adrenaline-mimetic drug with significant bronchodilation and smooth muscle relaxation effects. It also has a mild antihistamine effect, a sedative effect and suppresses the cough center. It is suitable for treating bronchial asthma, especially for patients who cannot tolerate ephedrine.
