Benzyldimethylhexadecylammonium chloride is used in leather processing, textile dyeing. A mildew preventive in silicone-based water repellents. Compatible with many nonionic detergents. Active in moderately alkaline solutions.

Uses
quaternary ammonium compound for use as germicide and fungicide in ophthalmie products and cosmetics like deodorants; in leather processing, textile dyeing; as a topical anti-infective.
Manufacturing Process
185 parts of hexadecylamine and 126.5 parts of benzylchloride was stirred at 100°C for 8 hours. After cooling to the crystalline product was added methyl chloride. N-Hexadecyl-N,N-dimethylbenzenemethanaminium chloride was obtained.
