Isolated from Machilus robusta and Sinocalamus affinis, it exhibits antineoplastic activity. It has a role as a metabolite and an antineoplastic agent. It is a dimethoxybenzene, a lignan, a primary alcohol, a polyphenol and a member of tetralins.
