Norepinephrine Bitartrate Usage And Synthesis
Uses
adrenergic agonist, antihypotensive
Uses
L-(ndash)-Norepinephrine-(+)-bitartrate is a α,β-adrenoceptor (AR) agonist.
Application
Norepinephrine Bitartrate for Injection is used to treat several conditions, including heart attack, low blood pressure, and shock. They help to keep the heart pumping and restore blood pressure to normal levels. Norepinephrine Bitartrate for Injection is given by injection into a vein. Norepinephrine Bitartrate for Injection is a medication used to treat low blood pressure (hypotension) and shock. It acts as a vasoconstrictor, meaning it constricts blood vessels to increase blood pressure and stimulate the heart. This helps to improve circulation and oxygen delivery to vital organs in the body. The single-dose vial contains a solution of 1 mg/mL of norepinephrine bitartrate, a salt form of norepinephrine, a naturally occurring hormone and neurotransmitter in the body. The vials are typically packaged in boxes of 10 for multiple doses. This medication is administered through intravenous (IV) injection by a healthcare professional. It is commonly used in emergency situations such as severe allergies, sepsis or during surgery to maintain stable blood pressure levels. It may also be prescribed for certain heart conditions and types of shock caused by low blood volume.
brand name
Levophed (Hospira).
Mechanism of action
Norepinephrine Bitartrate is a bitartrate salt of norepinephrine, a synthetic phenylethylamine that mimics the sympathomimetic actions of endogenous norepinephrine. Norepinephrine bitartrate acts directly on the alpha- and beta-adrenergic receptors. Clinically, norepinephrine is used as a peripheral vasoconstrictor that causes constriction of arterial and venous beds via its alpha-adrenergic action. It is also used as a potent inotropic and chronotropic stimulator of the heart mediated through its beta-1 adrenergic action.
Purification Methods
Recrystallise adrenor from EtOH and store it in the dark under N2. [pKa, Lewis Brit J Pharmacol Chemother 9 488 1954, UV: Bergstr.m et al. Acta Physiol Scand 20 101 1950, Fluorescence: Bowman et al.
