Reaction

  1. Catalyst used for the chemo-, regio, and stereoselective trifluoromethylation of styrene.
  2. Photoredox catalyst used in cross-coupling: Ir/Ni dual catalysts for the synthesis of benzylic ethers.
  3. Iridium complex used for catalytic olefin hydroamidation enabled by proton-coupled electron transfer.
  4. Catalyst used for visible light photoredox cross-coupling of acyl chlorides with potassium alkoxymethyltrifluoroborates.
  5. Iridium catalyst used in the photoredox/nickel dual catalytic cross-coupling of secondary alkyl β-trifluoroboratoketones and –esters with aryl bromides.
  6. Photocatalyst used in the cross-coupling of trifluoroalkylboranes.

Chemical Properties

The presence of fluorine atoms in the molecule of bis[2-(2,4-difluorophenyl)-5-trifluoromethylpyridine][2-2'-bipyridyl]iridium bis(hexafluorophosphate) salts gives them high thermal and chemical stability. Secondly, the introduction of iridium(III) ions endows it with unique luminescent properties, which makes it potentially applicable in the field of organic electroluminescence. In addition, the compound has good redox properties and photoelectric conversion efficiency, which provides the possibility of its application in solar cells, photovoltaic devices and other fields.

Uses

When used in tandem with a nickel catalyst, the above photoredox catalyst effects the cross-coupling of C-sp3 hybridized trifluoroborates with aryl bromides under exceptionally mild conditions.
