Sodium Bismuthate, is an inorganic compound, which is a strong oxidiser. Sodium Bismuthate converts almost any manganese compound to permanganate, which is easily assayed spectrophotometrically.

For the determination of manganese in iron and steel, etc., the manganese being oxidized by it in hot HNO3 or H2SO4 solution to permanganate.
