Used as an intermediate for organic synthesis.
Application
(+/-)-2-(3-chlorophenyl)-pyrrolidine has a wide application in synthesis of pharma intermediates,It is also used as an antioxidant.
Reactions
2-(3-Chloro-phenyl)-pyrrolidine is an important building block for the synthesis of various organic compounds. Through the coupling of the amine, It could be employed to couple with 4-(4-formylphenoxy)-1-naphthamide to synthesize 4-[4-[2-(3-Chlorophenyl)pyrrolidin-1-yl]methylphenoxyl]-1-naphthamide which is an aminobenzyloxyarylamide derivatives and act as κ opioid receptor antagonists.
Synthesis
To a solution of substituted benzoic acid inabsolute ethyl alcohol was slowly added thionyl chloride. The mixture was heated to reflux for 2h, and then cooledto room temperature. The solvent was removed and the solid residuewas dissolved in ethyl acetate, and washed withsaturated NaHCO3 solution. After a series of reactions, 3-(2-chloro-phenyl)-pyrrolidine can be obtained.
