Uses

β-Formylpropionic Acid is used in the synthesis of potent and orally available nonpeptide antagonist of human gonadotropin-releasing hormone receptor. It is also a reagent in the synthesis of human melanocortin-4 receptor antagonists with a pyrrolidinone moiety.
