Uses

N-2-Pyridinyl-1,2-ethanediamine is a reactant used in the synthesis of dual histamine H1 and H2 receptor antagonists based on cyanoguanidine. Also used in the synthesis of 2-thiohydantoins as somatostatin receptor ligands,

Synthesis

The reaction was carried out with 2-bromopyridine and ethylenediamine with reference to the literature method (11a) to obtain the target product N1-(pyridin-2-yl)ethane-1,2-diamine, which was a light yellow liquid in 85.34% yield.
