Chemical Properties
tricl crystal(s); commonly nonstoichiometric; -80mesh with 99.9% purity; preparation: by heating Re2S7 with sulfur in vacuum; uses: effective catalyst for hydrogenation of organic compounds, not poisoned by sulfur compounds, catalyzes reduction of NO to N2O at 100°C [CER91] [COT88] [LID94]

Rhenium(IV) sulfide is used as a diamagnetic semiconductor.
Uses
The two dimensional layered inorganic nanomaterials have drawn significant attention recently owing to their thickness dependent physical and chemical properties. They find applications in photocatalysis, photovoltaics, gas sensing, lithium ion batteries, field effect transistors, spintronics etc. Transition metal dischalcogenides represent an important class of inorganic 2D materials having the aforementioned applications.
