ANTI-CASPASE-9 Usage And Synthesis

Uses

Involved in the activation cascade of caspases responsible for apoptosis execution. Binding of caspase-9 to Apaf-1 leads to activation of the protease which then cleaves and activates caspase-3. Proteolytically cleaves poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP). Isoform 2 lacks activity is an dominant-negative inhibitor of caspase-9.
The antibody detects endogenous level of total Caspase 9 protein.

Biological Activity

Caspase 9/CASP9 is essential for apoptosis during normal development of the murine central nervous system and plays a role in controlling tumor development. It functions as an initiator caspase when mitochondrial dysfunction is the primary event in apoptosis. Caspase 9 functions as an initiator caspase when mitochondrial dysfunction is the primary event in apoptosis. Caspase 9 can also be activated by granzyme B.
