trans-Dichlorodiamineplatinum(II) Usage And Synthesis
Chemical Properties
Yellow Powder or Crystal
Uses
Transplatin is the trans stereoisomer impurity of Cisplatin (C499500), an antineoplastic used in the treatment of sarcomas, some carcinomas, lymphomas, and germ cell tumors. Transplatin binds to DNA but does not exhibit the same useful pharmacological effect as its cis stereoisomer.
Uses

Definition
ChEBI: A diamminedichloroplatinum compound in which the two ammine ligands and two chloro ligands are oriented in a trans planar configuration around the central platinum ion. Unlike its cis-isomer, cisplatin, it does not exhibit any useful pharmacological effect and is toxic.
Safety Profile
Poison by intraperitoneal route. Questionable carcinogen with experimental tumorigenic data. Human mutation data reported. See also PLATINUM COMPOUNDS. When heated to decomposition it emits toxic fumes of NOx and Cl-.
