Triglycerol monostearate Usage And Synthesis
Chemical Properties
Triglycerol monostearate is a light yellow waxy solid, odorless, with a slightly sweet taste. It is soluble in glycerol, benzene, propylene glycol, hot ethanol and cold ethyl acetate, and insoluble in cold water, but can be dispersed into an emulsion by stirring in hot water. Its HLB value is 11.3 (hexamer). The rat LD50 is 20g/kg, and the ADI is 0-25mg/kg (FAO/WHO, 1994).
Uses
Triglycerol monostearate, technical grade (CAS# 26855-43-6) is a fatty acid derivative and a useful building block. Triglycerol monostearate has been used in the preparation of a coenzyme Q10 micro emulsion, and is also a modifer used as an antifogging agent.
Synthesis
(1) under the pressure of -0.09MPa, the glycerol and accounted for 0.4% of the weight of glycerol compound mixed alkaline catalyst (mass ratio of 1:1 mixture of NaOH and NaH2PO2) mixed heating to 250 ??, concentration and dehydration, to obtain the three polyglycerol;
(2) under the pressure of -0.09MPaa, 10mol of triglyceride and 0.1mol of compound mixed alkaline catalyst (mixture of NaOH and NaH2PO2 with mass ratio of 1:1) were added into the reactor, mixed uniformly, and heated to 60??C;
(3) Nitrogen was passed in the reaction kettle, 6 mol of recovered tristearate was added to the mixture of triglyceride and compounded mixed alkaline catalyst in step (2), heated to 200??C with stirring, and the esterification reaction was cooled down for 6h, and cooled down to ambient temperature, and solid triglyceride monostearate was obtained.
