Uses

Dabcyl acid sodium (DABCYL sodium) is a nonfluorescent chromophore and a quencher. Dabcyl acid sodium can be used as molecular beacon nucleic acid probes to recognize and report the presence of specific nucleic acids in homogeneous solutions[1][2].

Purification Methods

It has been precipitated from aqueous solution as the free acid which was recrystallised from 95% EtOH, then reconverted to the sodium salt. [Beilstein 16 H 329.]
