Arctiin is a phytochemical acting as a UV filter. It protects against UVB radiation exposure.

Arctiin has also shown antiviral activity against influenza A when used alone or in combination with oseltamivir. Arctiin plays an important role in the process of inflammation, by preventing the release of nitric oxide, prostaglandin E2, TNF-α (tumor necrosis factor - α), interleukin (IL)-1β and IL-6.
