The general procedure for the synthesis of 2-fluorobenzene-1,4-diamine using 1-bromo-3-fluoro-4-iodobenzene as starting material was as follows: a mixture of substrate (0.25 mmol), complex 1 (2.5 x 10^-3 mmol), Cs2CO3 (1 mmol), and concentrated HCl was added to a sealed reaction tube. Subsequently, a solution of NH3 (aq) (0.5 mL) and TBAB (0.25 mmol) in water (0.5 mL) was injected into the reaction tube. The temperature of the reaction system was raised to 110-140 °C and the reaction mixture was stirred at this temperature for 8-24 hours. After completion of the reaction, the mixture was cooled to room temperature, poured into saturated NaCl solution, extracted with ethyl acetate and the organic phase was dried over anhydrous MgSO4. After removal of the solvent under reduced pressure, the residue was purified by recrystallization or silica gel column chromatography. All the products were characterized by NMR spectroscopy and the data were consistent with those reported in the literature.
