Uses
A fluorogenic substrate in the assay of α-galactosidase.
Uses
FFluorescent substrate for -galactosidase activity in cell extracts, lysosomes and human blood serum. The lower pKa of the hydrolysis product, allows its detection at phisiological pH5.

Biological Activity
4-Methylumbelliferyl α-D-galactopyranoside is a fluorogenic substrate for α-galactosidase-A. The enzyme converts the substrate to form a blue fluorescent product, methylumbelliferyl. The fluorescence is measured spectrophotometrically.
