ChEBI: Cycloolivil is a lignan.

Synthesis

Method for isolating (+)-cyclic olive resinin from the plant Stereospermumpersonatum, said method comprising the steps of:

a) extracting dried wood powder of Stereospermumpersonatum with hexane;

b) further extraction of the residue of step a) with chloroform;

c) concentrating the chloroform solution of step b) under vacuum;

d) adsorption of the dark brown extract on silica gel (60-120 mesh) and loading on a silica gel (60-120 mesh) column (4 cm diameter to 100 cm height);

e) elution of this silica gel column with a chloroform methanol gradient; and

f) collecting the eluted fractions with 5% methanol dissolved in chloroform and concentrating to obtain pure (+)-cyclic olive resinin.
