Uses

Phosphoric Acid Dibenzyl Ester Silver Salt is a reactant of cortisone 21-phosphate.

Synthesis

Dibenzyl phosphate (2.78 g, 10 mmol) was dissolved in water (40 mL) and cooled in an ice bath. Under stirring conditions, a 1 N NaOH solution was added slowly and dropwise until the pH of the reaction mixture was about 7, at which point the solid was almost completely dissolved. Subsequently, a solution of silver nitrate (1.89 g, 11 mmol) in water (20 mL) was slowly added. After addition, the resulting white solid was collected by filtration and washed with deionized water. Finally, the resulting solid was placed on phosphorus pentoxide and vacuum dried to give silver dibenzyl phosphate (3.18 g, 82.5% yield) as a white solid.
