2-Amino-N-isopropylbenzamide is a metabolite formed from Bentazon (B120580), a post-emergence, acidic herbicide used for selective control of broadleaf weeds and sedges in beans, rice, corn, peanuts and mint.

Synthesis

Preparation of anthranilic acid isopropylamide: dissolve isatoic anhydride in dichloroethane, add isopropylamide dropwise while warming up, and after warming up to 60C, hold the temperature for 0.8h, and then wash with saturated sodium carbonate to take off the dichloroethane, to get light yellow o-amino-N-isopropylbenzamide solution, in which the mass ratio of isatoic anhydride, dichloroethane and isopropylamide is 3.5: 2.6: 1.8.
