Uses

C24 Ceramide (d18:1/24:0) has been used:

• in the generation of small unilamellar vesicles
• as an internal standard in liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry for ceramide quantification from r at samples
• to test its effect on mitochondrial stress response in worms

Biological Activity

C24 ceramide induces mitochondrial stress response. Its levels are depleted in coronary artery disease (CAD). However, elevated ceramide levels is observed in Alzheimerμs disease. C24 is synthesized during stress. It mediates spontaneous neutrophil death.
