DOTMA Usage And Synthesis
Description
DOTMA is one of the first cationic lipid used for gene transfection. DOTMA carries a positive charge on the surface of liposomes which condenses anionic nucleic acids and promotes efficient interactions between the cell membrane and the liposome.
Uses
DOTMA is used for drug delivery and gene transfection. When used as a component of liposomes, it is used to encapsulate siRNAs, miRNAs and oligonucleotides, etc., to form carrier liposomes (LPX), which are used in anticancer vaccine research.DOTMA has shown good gene transfection effects both in vitro and in vivo. It can also be used as a development of new visualisers.
Biochem/physiol Actions
DOTMA is a cationic lipid, used as a non-viral vector for gene therapy. It exhibits effective in vitro and in vivo gene transfection. DOTMA induces a positive charge on the liposomes and thus promotes efficient liposome - cell membrane interaction.
