N-BUTANE Usage And Synthesis
Definition
A gaseous alkane obtained either from the
gaseous fraction of crude oil or by the
‘cracking’ of heavier fractions. Butane is
easily liquefied and its main use is as a
portable supply of fuel (bottle gas).
Butane is the fourth member of the homologous
series of alkanes.
