Pharmaceutical Applications

Trifarotene, also known as CD5789, is a first-in-class selective agonist of the retinoic acid receptor (RAR)-γ for the treatment of acne vulgaris in patients 9 years of age and older. Although its exact mechanism of action is unknown, the drug is able to modulate the expression of genes associated with inflammation and epidermal proliferation and differentiation.
