6-CARBOXYFLUORESCEIN N-SUCCINIMIDYL ESTER Usage And Synthesis
Description
Fluorescein (FAM) is a bright fluorophore that has found an extremely wide application in life science research. The fluorophore is hydrophilic and its derivatives possess good solubility in aqueous buffers.
Fluorescein is compatible with a wide variety of fluorescent instrumentation - most instruments are equipped with FAM channel filters.
This product contains the pure 6-isomer of fluorescein.
Chemical Properties
Yellow to orange powder
Uses
(6-FAM-SE) 6-Carboxyfluorescein-N-hydroxysuccinimide Ester is a commonly used fluorescent reagent for the labelling of peptides, proteins and nucleotides.
Uses
Intracellular pH probe. Fluorescent label for amines and alcohols.
Definition
ChEBI: 6-carboxyfluorescein succinimidyl ester is an N-hydroxysuccinimide ester derived from 6-carboxyfluorescein. A fluorescent cell staining dye, it is cell permeable and covalently couples, via its succinimidyl group, to intracellular molecules, notably to intracellular lysine residues. It has a role as a fluorochrome. It is functionally related to a fluorescein (lactone form).
