Uses

As an organometallic compound, Chloro{1,3-bis[2,6-di-i-propylphenyl]-4,5-dihydroimidazol-2-ylidene}gold(I) can be used as an important intermediate to synthesize various organometallic catalysts. It is also an important precious metal catalyst.

Preparation

The reaction of 1,3-bis(mesityl)imidazolium chloride with [AuCl(tht)] in CH2Cl2 was carried out for 15 minutes. Afterward, Potassium carbonate was added to the reaction system. Finally, Chloro{1,3-bis[2,6-di-i-propylphenyl]-4,5-dihydroimidazol-2-ylidene}gold(I) can be obtained through purification.
