Praseodymium(III) nitrate hexahydrate Usage And Synthesis
Uses
Praseodymium Nitrate is applied to colour glasses and enamels; when mixed with certain other materials, Praseodymium produces an intense clean yellow colour in glass. Component of Didymium glass which is used to make certain types of welder's and glass blower's goggles, also as important additive of Praseodymium yellow pigments. It can be used to create high-power magnets notable for their strength and durability. It is present in the rare earth mixture whose Fluoride forms the core of carbon arc lights which are used in the motion picture industry for studio lighting and projector lights.
Chemical Properties
lime-green crystals
Uses
Praseodymium(III) nitrate hexahydrate is used in electrical components, optical glasses and photo-optical materials. Also find use as catalysts and laboratory reagent. In addition, it is used in the solvothermal process for formation of doped lanthanide oxysulfide. It is a precursor for the electrodeposition of praseodymium oxide for electrochemical applications. It is a starting material for the preparation of ceramic pigments, metal-organic frameworks and mixed conductors. It finds utility in the synthesis of other praseodymium compounds and complexes.
Uses
A novel solvothermal process for formation of doped lanthanide oxysulfide, La2O2S, was developed in order to advance possible applications of this material in phosphors, fluorescent display tubes or heat transfer measurement. Also applied in the ultrasonic synthesis of phase-pure praseodymium molybate,Pr2Mo3O12.
