Uses
Emodepside-d6 is an isotopic labeled compound of Emodepside; an anthelmintic drug very active against gastrointestinal nematodes.
Definition
ChEBI: A cyclooctadepsipeptide consisting of D-lactoyl, N-methyl-L-leucyl, 3-[4-(4-morpholinyl)phenyl]-D-lactoyl, N-methyl-L-leucyl, D-lact yl, N-methyl-L-leucyl, 3-[4-(4-morpholinyl)phenyl]-D-lactoyl, and N-methyl-L-leucyl residues joined in sequence to give a 24-membered macrocycle. An anthelmintic, it i used with praziquantel for the treatment and control of hookworm, roundworm and tapeworm infections in cats.
Biological Activity
Emodepside is a cyclooctadepsipeptide anthelmintic a novel mode of action involving the calcium-gated potassium channel SLO-1 in C. elegans, sometimes mediated by a latrophilin (LAT) receptor.
Veterinary Drugs and Treatments
Emodepside/Praziquantel topical solution (Profender?) is indicated for the treatment and control of hookworm infections caused by Ancylostoma tubaeforme (adults, immature adults, and fourth stage larvae), roundworm infections caused by Toxocara cati (adults and fourth stage larvae), and tapeworm infections caused by Dipylidium caninum (adults) and Taenia taeniaeformis (adults) in cats.

Emodepside interferes with signaling at the neuromuscular junction on the body-wall muscles, pharynx and egg-laying muscles and thus inhibits three important physiological functions: locomotion, feeding and reproduction[4].
