Purification Methods
Crystallise D-gluconamide from EtOH or 1,2-dimethoxyethane. It mutarotates slowly and hydrolytically in aqueous solution from +30.7o to +13.8o in 80hours to give ammonium D-gluconate which recrystallises from 95% EtOH with m 153-154o and [] D +11.8o (c 3, H2O).
