Uses

Calcium silicate is used in ceramics, paint extenders, in chromatography, as a filler in plastics, cements and binder for refractory material.Calcium silicate is used as filler in the manufacture of paper and some types of plastics. It is also used as a food additive and a refractory material in industrial furnaces. Calcium silicate is also used for the insulation of pipes and boards. This compound has also been used in the manufacture of paints, coating materials, cosmetics, fertilizers and pharmaceutical products like antacids. It is used in high temperature insulation materials and as an alternative to asbestos.
