The general procedure for the synthesis of N,N-dimethylmorpholine-4-carboxamide from morpholine and dimethylcarbamoyl chloride was as follows: morpholine (0.5 mol) was dissolved in a solvent mixture of dichloromethane (DCM, 300 mL) and 10% sodium hydroxide solution (300 mL). Subsequently, a solution of dimethylcarbamoyl chloride (0.6 mol) in dichloromethane (200 mL) was slowly added over a period of 10 minutes. After the addition was completed, the reaction mixture was stirred continuously for 3 hours at room temperature. Upon completion of the reaction, the organic layer was separated and the aqueous layer was back-extracted with dichloromethane (100 mL). The organic phases were combined and washed with saturated sodium chloride solution (2 x 100 mL). The organic layer was dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate and filtered, and the solvent was removed by concentration under reduced pressure to give an oily crude product. Purification by distillation and collection of fractions with boiling points of 127-129 °C afforded the target compound N,N-dimethylmorpholine-4-carboxamide in 93% yield in colorless oily form. The structure of the product was confirmed by 1H-NMR (CDCl3) and 13C-NMR (CDCl3): 1H-NMR (CDCl3): δ 2.72 (s, 6H, 2CH3), 3.08-3.11 (m, 4H, 2CH2), 3.54-3.57 (m, 4H, 2CH2) ppm; 13C-NMR (CDCl3): δ 38.0,47.1,66.3,164.3 ppm.
