Uses

2-Chloroadenosine can effectively inhibit the expression of tumor metastasis-related genes mtal and mRNA, and has inhibitory effects on various cancer cells. For example, it inhibits the in vitro invasion of highly metastatic human ovarian cancer cells HO-8910PM and the growth of human prostate cancer cells. 2-Chloroadenosine can also significantly increase spinal cord blood flow after injury, thereby improving post-injury neurological function. Furthermore, it is an important pharmaceutical intermediate; it can be used as a raw material to synthesize the anti-leukemia drug cladribine (2-chlorodeoxyadenosine).
