Description
2-Phenoxyethyl acrylate is a nonflammable, low-volatility liquid with moderate solubility in water. 2-Phenoxyethyl acrylate is a monofunctional acrylic monomer that free radicals can polymerize. In particular, this compound is designed for ultraviolet and electron beam curing applications and used in U.V &E.B cured coatings, inks, and adhesives.
Uses
2-Phenoxyethyl Acrylate is used as a monomer in multifunctional and shape memory polymers.
Uses
Ethylene glycol phenyl ether acrylate (PA) monomer may be used to fabricate polymerization induced grating pattern on photopolymer films.

Ethylene glycol phenyl ether acrylate (PA) is a monofunctional acrylate.

Synthesis
1) Measured phenol, ring-opening polymerization catalyst into the stainless steel high-pressure reactor, vacuum, heating to the appropriate reaction temperature, dropwise addition of ethylene oxide, temperature control reaction to the completion of the dropwise addition of ethylene oxide, and then held until the end of the reaction, cooling out of the material, to get the 2-phenoxyethanol intermediate.
2) The 2-phenoxyethanol intermediate was added to the homemade vacuum distillation device for vacuum distillation, and 2-phenoxyethanol was obtained by component separation.
3) The measured 2-phenoxyethanol, acrylic acid, p-toluenesulfonic acid, copper chloride dihydrate, p-hydroxyanisole, and cyclohexane were added to a four-necked flask consisting of a force-increasing electric mixer, a 2000 mL Four-necked flask, temperature-regulated heating jacket, water separator, condenser and other components of the esterification water splitting device for esterification reaction, the crude ester, and then the crude ester were used with a 5% aqueous solution of soda ash, respectively. 5% aqueous soda ash solution, water for neutralization and washing, after removing cyclohexane and water to get 2-phenoxyethyl acrylate.
